Carlene A. McCartney, 88, passed away at her Wyandotte, MI, home, Friday March 12, 2021, while under hospice care. She was born in Toledo, OH, April 4, 1932, to parents Carleton and Lena (Fetterman) Barnes, and they preceded her in death. Carlene graduated from Libby High School, and attended the University of Toledo, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She worked in the New Accounts Department of the former Peoples Savings for many years. Carlene was a member of the Eastern Star, Jaycees, and the Mayflower Society. She loved to travel, was a fanatic baseball fan; of late her favorite team was the Detroit Tigers. Carlene enjoyed playing cards, playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren, and Bunco. Her yearly trips to Cedar Point were full of laughter and misadventure, putting a trip to Wally World to shame.
She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Jerald) Miller; son Craig (Suzie) McCartney; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and her faithful feline companion for more than 15 years, Josh. Carlene was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years when he passed, Kenneth McCartney.
Friends may gather at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St. Sylvania, OH, Tuesday, March 16th from 10:00 AM, until the funeral ceremony begins at 12:00 PM. Carlene will be laid to rest beside Ken at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Those wishing to offer memorials are asked to consider the ASPCA.
