Bonnie Bland Obituary

Bonnie Mae (Knopp) Bland, 83, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 15, 2022, in hospice. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, September 21, 1938, to parents Edward Ferdinand and Eleanor Irene (Robar) Knopp. Bonnie married the love of her life, Harold Bland in 1957. Together they raised four daughters.

Bonnie will be remembered as a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.

Bonnie worked in the sales division of Inza’s Fashions for more than 14 years. She then worked at the Fultz Gallery for several more years. Upon retiring, Bonnie enjoyed living at a lake home in Coldwater, Michigan. She volunteered countless hours to the Greater Toledo Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. She began teaching First Aid, orientation classes, and finally became co-chair of transportation for premature infants. Bonnie was awarded the first annual Top Five Outstanding Young Women of Toledo on April 19, 1972, by the Women’s Auxiliary to the Toledo Jaycees (Jay-C-Ettes). Prior to 1972 only men were awarded.

Bonnie was an avid reader and enjoyed drawing and bowling in her free time. She bowled on two leagues twice a week for over 40 years. She knitted complete layette ensembles for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bonnie will be remembered as one of the best cooks and pie makers around. Her home was always neat as a pin and decorated beautifully for holiday dinners and celebrations with family and friends. Bonnie enjoyed wintering in Panama City Beach, Florida, and inviting her many friends down for fun in the sun.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters Kim Dockery, Karrie (Ron) Warsaw, and Dena (Terry) Barror; grandchildren Michelle (David) Harry, Dawn (Fred) Borgerson, Kirk (Elizabeth) Bell, Jeremy Barror, Michael (Barbie) Johnson, and Samuel (Jennie) Johnson; great-grandchildren Alexa and Bailee Borgerson, Kyle and Paige Staler, Sarah Elwardany, Alex Pauley, Kaden, Karsten, Kohen, and Kolten Bell, Jacquelyn Chonis, and Alex Bartlett; great-great grandchildren Jackson Pauley and Liam Chonis. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Harold in 2014; brothers Jim, Dean, and Edward Knopp; daughter Beckie (Bland) White; and granddaughter Kristen (Barror) Staler.
