Beverly Lynn Blakeman

Beverly Lynn Blakeman, age 74 passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Beverly was born on July 9, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio to Dick and Ruth Kurtz, and was a 1969 graduate of Sylvania High School. She studied education at Kent State University, graduating in 1973. She married Gary Blakeman August 23, 1974, and they enjoyed 51 years of
marriage together.

She began a 35-year career in education with Sylvania Schools where she worked as an elementary school teacher at Hillview, Stranahan and finally at Whiteford Elementary Schools. She received many accolades in education which she was extremely proud of including being named Sylvania Schools Teacher of the Year in 2005-2006. After retiring, she quickly transitioned into being a full-time grandmother and could often be seen with Gary at just about every game, performance, or activity that her grandchildren were engaged in.

Bev loved to exercise, frequently attending Zumba classes and doing water aerobics as well as going on walks with her family and close friends. She enjoyed family vacations in northern Michigan visiting her favorite local attractions and restaurants; spending time playing Bunco with friends and neighbors; and was the biggest fan at all her children and grandchildren's numerous activities. Beverly loved her Hallmark movies and was known to have a “sweet-tooth”, even going so far as to hide certain sweets in special hiding places!

She is survived by her husband, Gary; her sister, Barbara (John) Baldwin; her son, Brian (Kami); her daughter, Kristen (Russ) Reinbolt; and her six grandchildren who she adored: Brooklynn, Brady, Adalynn, Blair, Ashlynn and Madilynn [and her ‘grand- doggy’, Slugger!].

On Thursday, February 26, 2026 visitation as well as a service will be at Reeb Funeral Home 5712 N Main Street, Sylvania, OH with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a brief service for close friends and family.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their kindness and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Olivet Lutheran Church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
