Betty Jean Ray, age 85, of Toledo, passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday April 8, 2026.
She was born on December 2nd, 1940, to Marcelle and Armande (Delor) Deroitte in Liege, Belgium.
Betty enjoyed 28 years of marriage to Frederick J. Ray until his passing in 1989.
Besides raising her three children she worked over 25 years as a house parent for Lutheran Homes.
Betty proudly became a United States Citizen in 1976, loved traveling and visiting her sister in Las Vegas and her family in Belgium. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to 18, cherishing every moment spent with them.
She is survived by her loving family, daughters, Nancy (Robin) Blair; Cindy Ray; son, David (Judy) Ray; grandchildren, Anthony, Alexandra (William), Bailey (Devin), Audrey (Jacob), Renee, Tim (Myrna), Emily, Olivia (Andrew), Daniel and nine great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Frederick, and her three siblings. A private burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park honoring her wishes. Memorial contributions may be given to Genacross Lutheran Services in Betty’s name.
