B. Jane Ogle Founder of Justice for Victims passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
Jane died at the Ebeid Hospice Residence, Sylvania. She was born September 9, 1941, in Toledo, to parents Okey and Beulah (Hamrick) Rodgers. Jane was employed as an emergency room unit clerk at both St. Luke’s and Wood County Hospitals for a combined total of 30 years ended in 1999.
Jane was always a “hands on person”. She served as a PTA President and was a member of the Mothers Club at the Reynolds Road Elementary School. During this time, she ran the BJ Ranch where she owned and cared for horses, offering horse riding to the public.
Jane’s inner spirit was challenged when her daughter Debra Dee Ogle was murdered March 8, 1986. The emotional struggles and the tangled web of bureaucracy she faced were devastating. This only made her stronger. She created the first victim rights group in Toledo called Justice for Victims with an office in the Madison Building.
This organization helped others navigate the court system and create impact statements that she often read in court. In short Jane became an advocate for victims who at the time had no support.
Jane was strong willed and had the ability to get things done by setting goals and striving to achieve them. She bought, refurbished, and sold houses by completing most of the work herself. She was an avid gardener and donated her time selflessly to complete work for friends and family in gardening, landscaping, and painting.
She enjoyed owning and driving various sport cars over the years.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Debbie Ogle and granddaughter Celeste Slomovitz.
Survived by Brother Robert Rogers, Children Diane Gonzales, Dawna Ogle, and Bryan Ogle. Grandchildren Kennedy Slomovitz, Tara Adkins, Raegan Ogle, Chase Buczynski, James Gonzalez, and Tanner Slomovitz. Great grandchildren Lila and James Adkins and Beatrice Pease.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, Oh Tuesday, May 10th from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
