Anthony J. Gerrish, age 95, passed away on January 8, 2026, in Sylvania, Ohio, at Northwest Ohio Ebeid Hospice Center. He was born in Toronto, Canada to Frederick and Dorothy (Jones) Gerrish on July 20, 1930. Tony married Mary McCloskey on December 27, 1952 and together raised their six children. They moved to Sylvania in 1972.
After graduating from high school, Tony enlisted in the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He worked at Montgomery Ward for 38 years, retiring in 1988. During 1962, he founded and ran Campers Cove Campground in Wheatley, Ontario. Tony enjoyed downhill skiing and was an avid walker, walking in many area parks.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Mary; his children, Barbara Bondy, Catherine (Timothy) Doney, Nancy (David) Heyens, John (Cheryl) Gerrish and Gregory (Anne) Gerrish; daughter-in-law, Brenda Gerrish; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren with one on the way.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents; son, Geoffrey; granddaughter, Kate Doney; sister, Daphne Nemes; and son-in-law, Dennis Bondy.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Mass begins at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania.
