Alma J. Scott, 78, of Toledo, OH, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at Embassy of Swanton. She was born April 13, 1945, in Toledo, OH, to parents Giles and Mildred (Russell) Smelser. Alma had been a lifelong member with the Church of the Nazarene where she was actively involved with Caravans and Sunday School Programs for many years. She would later work in Adult Basic Education, helping others achieve their GED’s in Sylvania, OH. She graduated from Lourdes College with Honors in 1990, after which she worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Alma was the founder T.O.P.S. ( Taking off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter #640 Sylvania, OH, many years ago, and with herself having tremendous results from the program. In 2020 she was named Ohio Queen with a weight loss of 156.5 Lbs.
Alma is survived by her daughters Tracy (Doug) Jacobs, Kelly Jagodzinski, and Melinda Scott; son John A. (Megan) Scott JR.; 10 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John A. Scott Sr.; and sons Jeffery and Royal Scott.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Friday, September 8, 2023, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm. where Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, September 9th at 11:00am. Pastor Rick Ketterman of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene officiating. Alma will be laid to rest with her family at Rath Cemetery, Rasinville Township, Monroe County, MI.
