Allen Francis Simon, age 84, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 19th, 2026, after courageously fighting a long battle with kidney disease, multiple myeloma, and arthritis. He was a devoted husband, cherished father, beloved grandfather, and a trusted friend.
Allen was born on February 27th, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio to Eileen and Francis (Bus) Simon. He grew up in Toledo and graduated from Central Catholic Highschool in 1959.
He dedicated his career to his passion as a draftsman and machine designer. He was generous when called upon for his expertise and often volunteered his consultancy. Companies called him for his services into his 80’s.
Allen took immense pride in his children and grandchildren, always making time to coach his kids' softball and soccer team when they were younger. His humor, determination, and wit created countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of his family. Allen enjoyed adventure and the outdoors. He took pleasure in camping with his family in Michigan, sailing on his sailboat, and spending time at marinas admiring boats and being near the water. In his younger years, he loved flying Cessna airplanes as part of a flying club as well as scuba diving. Allen was a man of strong faith who never missed a Sunday Mass, even while on vacation.
The family would like to thank and recognize the care staff at Flower Hospital DaVita Dialysis Center for their great compassion and kindness. We would also like to thank Ohio Living Hospice for stepping in where comfort was needed.
Allen is survived by his wife: Judith Simon; his children: Diana (Kenneth) Kelley, Kim (Matt) Rhodes, Kelly (Jeff) Entenmann, Michelle Sesevich, and John (Erin) Simon; his ten grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant son Thad Simon. Service Information Catholic Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday January 26th, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Parish in Sylvania, OH.
