Alice Schuster Obituary

Alice L. Schuster, 101, of Lambertville, MI, passed away very peacefully Saturday, April 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Riga, MI, September 18,1921 to parents William Otis and Anna Marie (Moritz) McCormick.

Alice was a lifelong member of Olivet Lutheran Church and active in the church choir, altar guild, mobile meals and leisure league. She worked for Howard Gas & Oil and the City of Sylvania Water Department. She was a longtime Sylvania resident before moving to Michigan to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Alice loved her chocolates, adult coloring, word searches, and, most of all, she loved being with family at family gatherings, dinners and celebrations.

Alice is survived by her loving daughter, Jan (Hank) Kruse; grandchildren, Lori (Daryl) Smith and Jeff (Red) Bernholtz; and great-granddaughter, Samantha Bernholtz. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Anna Marie McCormick; loving husband, Richard Schuster (married August 10, 1940); daughter, Shirley (Herb) Bernholtz; granddaughter, Sheri Bernholtz; brothers, Charles “Ed” (Mable/Mae) McCormick, Frank (Oca) McCormick, Melvin McCormick, William (Jessie) McCormick, Leo McCormick, Ray Arthur "Tony" (Babe) McCormick and Harley (Marion) McCormick; sisters, Mable (Harold) Zimmerman and Luella (Dean) Dowling.

Special thanks to: Cindy and Judy of Olivet Leisure League and the church caregiver group for all their cards; Pastor Melissa Micham; Pastor Nate Tuff; Darrell Cousino, and the caregivers at Hampton Manor of Bedford and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their special care.

Friends may call at Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe St, Sylvania, OH on Thursday, May 4, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., where Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Toledo Memorial Cemetery.
