Roy E. Knaggs

November 4, 1940 – October 5, 2017

Roy E. Knaggs, 76, of Ottawa Lake, died unexpectedly Thursday, October 5, 2017. 

Born November 4, 1940, in Ottawa Lake, Roy is the son of Ludy and Lucy (LaPointe) Knaggs. Roy graduated from Bedford High School and retired from General Motors Powertrain. Roy married Faye (Albain) Knaggs on July 7, 1962, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, and they recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

Roy enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, golfing, walking the parks, coaching and  watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, camping, hunting, travelling, volunteering at the church, bird-watching, bowling and spending time with his family and friends.  He was a hard-working, inventive, creative fix-it kind-of-guy.  As a former athlete, he played baseball, softball, and was a former high school record-holding pole-vaulter. 

Roy is survived by his wife, Faye (Albain) Knaggs, his four children, Richard (Carrie) Knaggs, Traci (Leticia) Knaggs, Tina (Jeff) Kiefer, and Kevin (Sarah) Knaggs, his ten grandchildren (Keena, Mariah, Natasha, Joshua, Madeline, Ella, Taylor, Jordan (David),  Dakota and Jesse), his three brothers, Arnold (Genni) Knaggs, Melvin (Mary) Knaggs, and Howard (Bonnie) Knaggs and his two sisters, Letha Holup, and Joan  Young as well as in-laws Bernard Brosamer, Gloria (Lenhart) Knaggs, and Gerri (Green) Knaggs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ludy and Lucy (LaPointe) Knaggs, five brothers Raphael, Paul, Robert, Donald,  and Larry and six sisters Mary, Anna, Alice Marie, Rose, Jean Francis, and Donna.

Visitation will be held at the Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, OH, on Tuesday, October 10th from 2 to 8 p.m. Scripture Service to be held at 8 p.m. Roy will lie In State at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Temperance, MI, on Wednesday, October 11, between 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial beginning at 11 a.m. Father Brian Hurley will officiate. Burial will follow the mass and will be held at the Whiteford Union Cemetery on Sterns Road in Lambertville, MI, followed by a luncheon.
