Ronald Smith Obituary

Ronald Wayne Smith Sr., aka “Cricket/Driver” age 80, of Sylvania Twp., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving and devoted family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg, Tuesday, August 28, 2018. During these past couple of years, he defied all odds and continued living well to spend more time with his family. He endured the fall out of surviving colon cancer and battling COPD; all the while determined to return to his home where his much loved companion’s Pandora (Pekapoo) and Sky (Husky) awaited his return. Pandora had many visits to her owner; sometimes to visit, sometimes to lay on his lap and sometimes to just sleep next to him.

Ron was born to Percy and Edith Smith (Krieger) on January 02, 1938, in Toledo, Ohio. He started his first year of high school then he was off into the trucking industry for Mohawk, ETMF, and ABF where he retired after 36 years of service. Ron also was a proud life-time member of the Teamster’s Local 20.

Ron had an uncanny ability to make a friend and he truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; golfing, playing the slots, cooking, telling stories about his grandchildren, chatting with friends and taking care of his family and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parent’s; infant granddaughter Heather, son Keith; grandson, Kyle; stepfather, George Krieger; sister’s, Joanne Styer, Bessie Severence,  Carol Wilkes; and brother, James Smith Sr.

He is survived by sons, Ronald (Sharon) Jr., Brian (Debbi), William, and Christopher Smith, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, sister; Shirley Koles, and brother David Krieger; sister in law; Emma “Nell” Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and many, many friends.

The family gives Lisa Boros-Snaidecki, Dr. Adil, and all the nurses and aids a special thanks for their continuous care and special friendship over the past several years.

Family and friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Tuesday September 4, 2018, 11:00 A.M. until the service begins at 2:00 P.M.
