Nancy passed away at Magnum Care of Monroe following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Nancy was originally from Point Place, living on 118th St right down the street from Earl’s Market, her father’s butcher shop and grocery store. She attended Waite High School and married her high school sweetheart, Bill Martin, and continued to live on 118th St until 1972. Nancy worked as a licensed Social Worker at Lutheran Social Services for over 30 years, retiring in 2000. She married the love of her life, Ben Phillips, in 1975 and they recently celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Hurl and Olga (Sprengel) Rolsten, her brother’s Robert Sprengel and Jack Rolsten and her sister Betty Champion. She is survived by her husband Ben, daughter’s Leslie Martin Cundiff (Scott) and Laurie Martin Stevens, step-daughters Becky Huepenbecker (Gary) and Cindy Phillips, step-sons Dennis Phillips (Anete) and Tom Phillips (Sandy), 11 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren.
Services are at Christ Lutheran Church on Elm St., in Monroe MI at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 17, 2017.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Nancy’s name to either Lutheran Social Services of Northwest Ohio, 2149 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo OH 43620, or Magnum Care Recreational Department, 1215 N Telegraph Rd, Monroe MI 48162.
