Nancy Wenland (LaVoie) Butz

Nancy Wenland Butz, 86, of Toledo, OH passed away peacefully on February 9th, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born June 10th, 1931 to the late Charlotte and Samuel LaVoie. Nancy was proud of graduating from the prestigious DeVilbiss High School in Toledo. Being passionate about dance, she diligently trained with The Beatrice Gardner School of Dance, she then pursued the profession in New York City. Nancy met the love of her life, the late Ray Butz, to whom she married in 1955. Nancy and Ray were happily married for 57 years.

In her professional life, Nancy, was respected as the Office Manager for Kirby Vacuum, a Sales Representative for World Book Encyclopedia, developed and led the Math Lab at Whittier Elementary School, acted as the Secretary for Toledo Camera Club, managed business administration for her husband at Butz Welding and finished her career bookkeeping for her son at Butz Welding and Fabricating. Nancy enjoyed: bowling with the Whittier PTA Bowling League, volunteering for channel 30 WGTE Public Television, planning trips, traveling, taking pictures with her husband, dancing, hosting parties, spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, sewing, upholstering, flying kites, telling stories, baking and cooking, but most of all, Nancy, loved spending time with her family!

She is survived by her loving Sons, Reggie, Randy (Mary) Butz, Step-Daughter Kathleen Barta, Grandchildren Josh (Laura) Smith, Bryan, Tiffany, Rachael, Kyle, and Great Grandson Dorian. She was proceeded in death by her Mother Charlotte, Father Samuel, Husband Raymond and Sister’s Charlotte Anne and Lois Hood.

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Friday, February 16th  from 3 – 8 PM, where Funeral Services will be held Saturday the 17th at 12 Noon, family and friends are invited to gather one-hour prior.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of the Donor’s choice.
