Mary Ellen Thomas

Mary Ellen (Snider) Thomas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the age of 97, at Elizabeth Scott Community.  She was born September 30, 1921, in Etna Green, Indiana to Glen and Ethel (Easterday) Snider.  She married her high school sweetheart, W. Wayne Thomas, on October 30, 1943.  He preceded her in death in 2010.

Mary moved from South Bend, IN to Toledo, in 2012 to be closer to family.  She was a resident of Oakleaf Village for 5 ½ years.  While in South Bend she worked as a  secretary at Notre Dame University, South Bend Community Schools and volunteered at South Bend Memorial Hospital, for 18 years.  She was an active member of PSI Iota X I sorority for 30 years. 

She is survived by her son, Denis, of Lacey, WA, Daughter, Pam (Robert) Bull, of Sylvania, OH; grandsons, Brian (Tammie) Bull and Jonathan (Linda) Bull, and great grandchildren, Brayden, Brenna, Evan, Nolan and Sydney. 

Mary’s family wishes to express their gratitude to the staffs at Elizabeth Scott Community and Oakleaf Village for their loving care they gave her during her stay with them.

Private services will be held for family, with a public memorial gathering at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Wednesday December 5, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. with burial at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Granger, IN, at a later date.  The family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of the donor’s choice.
