Lois Geraldine “Gerri” Singer, 85, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018, at Evergreen Manor in Montpelier, Ohio a much-loved resident there for six and half years.
Born May 5, 1932 in Amesville, Ohio to Leonard Dale and Winnie Taylor McGill, Gerri was the sixth of eight children. She was preceded in death by all seven of her siblings, Alice, Leroy, Wesley, Max, Louise, Dale and Doris. She was also preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, David. They were married in Greenup, Kentucky on May 21, 1949.
Gerri loved to be around people and stay busy. She sewed, did many needlework projects, enjoyed ceramic painting and many other types of crafts. She hosted and helped with many family dinners and gatherings for family events as well as Bunco club and various home product parties. Advent Lutheran Church family was very important to Gerri and David. They spent a lot of time helping there in many different capacities. Gerri and David spent a lot of time at Nettle Lake in Montpelier, Ohio first at a family cottage and later their own. Gerri enjoyed decorating, going to garage sales and antique shops. She and David worked very well as a team on many home refurbishing projects and built two homes in their life together. They spent many hours with grandchildren as they came along, gladly “babysitting” even for extended stays at their Nettle Lake cottage and their Bashan, Ohio home. And then there were school functions, ball games and dance recitals to attend as well.
Gerri is survived by her children: Michael (Annette) Singer and Sherry Buck, grandchildren: James (Heather) Singer, Mark (Christina) Singer, Joshua (Danielle) Buck, Kenneth Buck, Stephanie (Ronnie) Gerber and great-grandchildren, Jason Singer, Alisha Singer, Alizabeth Pilmore, Krysten Sumner, Lillian Moore, Ryleigh Singer, Bella Gerber, Brady Buck and Avery Buck. All these children were very much loved and cherished. Mother’s Day was more important to her than any other “holiday”.
