Kathleen Ann Maidlow

Kathleen "Kathy" Ann Myers Maidlow of Sylvania, age 77, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 4, 2017.  Kathy was born in Lima, Ohio and graduated from Lima Senior High School.  Kathy attended Bowling Green State University where she earned a bachelor of science degree in speech and hearing therapy.  An avid swimmer, Kathy was the president of the BGSU "Swan Club" and performed as an accomplished synchronized swimmer throughout her college days.  After college, Kathy moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1962 where she began her career with the Brookfield schools. There she met a dashing young Xerox salesman, her future husband and love of her life, James "Jim" Maidlow.  After two years of courtship, they were married and blessed with three sons and thirty-seven years of marriage.  Kathy and Jim made their home in Sylvania, Ohio where Kathy worked as a speech therapist for the Lucas County and Sylvania schools for thirty-three years.  Kathy was known for her kindness and generosity and was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.  In addition to being patient and friendly with everyone she met, Kathy was known for her great conversational skills and love of sipping a good margarita with family and friends.  She also volunteered for the Christ Child Society and helped further their mission of helping children.  In the last thirteen years Kathy thrived as a devoted and proud "Grammy" and "Nai Nai" to her six grandchildren.  Kathy is survived by her sons Michael (Lesley) Maidlow of Sylvania, Ohio, Mark (Cate) Maidlow of Oak Park, Illinois, and Daniel (Stephanie) Maidlow of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, and cherished by her grandchildren Lilli, Valerie, Blake, Audrey, Gracie and Reece. Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Henry Maidlow and her parents Bernard and Mary Myers.  Visitation will take place on Sunday, October 8 ,2017 from 5pm to 8pm at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main Street, Sylvania. Ohio.  A funeral mass will take place on Monday, October 9, 2017 at 10am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5373 Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio.
