Karen Rae Elvey, age 75, of Pemberville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at Otterbein Senior Life Community. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio to James and Mary (Monroe) Gleason and raised by her mother and step-father John Harp. While raising three daughters, Karen worked several jobs, including Fifth Third Bank and the Ohio Department of Transportation in Bowling Green where she retired in 2010. She was the loving wife of William Elvey, who cherished her and never left her side. Although suffering many tragedies, she always had a smile, a kind word for everyone, and always looked on the bright side. Karen loved the outdoors, gardening, entertaining, and shopping. But most of all she loved spending time with her family, whom she was so proud of.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving family; daughters, Amy Grossman and Betsy (Joe) Gonzales; grandchildren, McKenzie, (Daniel), Mckayla, Corrin (Dan), Jordan (Madison), and Anna; great-grandchildren, Asher, Christian, Adrian, Kazley, Ezra, and Jade; sister, Cindy (Joe) Vincent; brothers, Van, (Patty), Mike (Darcy), Jeff (Nancy) Harp, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, step-father and daughter, Gretchen Glover.
The family would like to thank the Otterbein staff and Ohio Living Hospice for their loving care and compassion they provided to Karen.
Friends may join the family for vitiation at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio on Tuesday January 22, 2019 from 2-8:00 P.M. where the funeral services will be held Wednesday Jan. 23, 2019 at 12:00 P.M. (Noon), interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park. Those wishing to give a memorial please consider Grace Lutheran Church or Ohio Living Hospice.
