Alyssa Marie and Justin Trevor Haun Obituary

Alyssa Marie Haun (16), born Nov. 5, 2001, and Justin Trevor Haun (13), born July 19, 2004,  passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on July 4, 2018.
Alyssa was entering her Junior Year at Highland High School, Medina, Ohio with aspirations to obtain advanced degrees in Chemical Engineering. She was driven to succeed in her academic endeavors.  She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Camerata Orchestra (violin), the Speech and Debate Team, the Cross-Country Team, the Robotics Team, the Girl Scouts, and the Toledo ZooTeen Program. Her orchestra teacher states that she was a “brilliant young woman with a very gentle heart.” Her big-hearted nature always had her asking why there was so much suffering in the world as if she felt it herself.  She surrounded herself with a tight knit group of friends whom she considered her family.
Justin had completed his 8th Grade Year at Bedford Junior High School, Temperance, MI and  was planning to enter his Freshman Year at the Monroe County Middle College in Monroe with  a focus on Life Sciences. He planned to become a neurosurgeon because in his words, “I want to  help people.” Justin was very kind hearted, always helping people in small ways whether it was his twin sister with special needs, friends at school, or family that needed help. He was a member of the Cross-Country Team, the Orchestra (bass) the Robotics Team, and the Quiz Bowl Team (obtaining the County Championship Title). His guitar teacher commented that Justin had the potential to become a very good guitarist and that “God truly blessed Justin with many talents and abilities.”
They both had high expectations of changing the world in uniquely different ways.  With their deaths, their parents have made it their mission to make sure that through Alyssa and Justin, lives can still be changed. In lieu of flowers, for those interested in helping Justin and Alyssa achieve their goals to help others, a fund will be established to provide scholarships and support local charities in the Bedford and Highland school districts as a way of giving back to the communities that gave so much to their families during the aftermath of their tragic deaths. They both leave gaping holes in the lives of the surviving family members.

The siblings were preceded in death by their grandparents Don H. and Elizabeth S. White and Rebecca Haun; their aunt Mary Chmiel; and their cousin Alison Flach. They are survived by their father, Barry F. Haun; mother, Barbara A White; twin sister to Justin, Rachel E. Haun; grandparents Garry and Beverly Haun; aunts/uncles Matt Chmiel, Sue Meiring, Donna White (Larry), Kim Flach (Mark), Darby Atchison (Ken), John White (Cindy), Bob White (Cathy), Beth Frome (Tom); cousins Laurie Croft (Samantha, Abigail), Angie Stoner (Parker, Stella), Mike Meiring, Michael Atchison (Elias, Tobias), Bethany Eckstein (Annabelle), Katie White, Stephen White, Angela Flach, Colleen Flach, and Melanie Flach.
