William Harry Elvey SrJanuary 22, 1928 ~ July 1, 2017 (age 89)
William H. Elvey Sr. 89, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Otterbein in Pemberville.
Bill was a long-time member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was employed for many years with the Libby Owens Ford Glass Company, he served as the Treasurer of the Sun Oil Federal Credit Union, and retired from Jeffers Crane where he served as Treasurer. He was an active member of the Masonic Fraternity. Bill was a 32nd Degree Mason, Past Master of the Rubicon Lodge # 237 F&AM, a member of the Scottish Rite, and the Zenobia Shrine where he served as Past Director of the Jeepsters. He was proud to have served with the United States Navy during both W.W.II and the Korean War.
Bill leaves to cherish his precious memories with his loving wife Karen (Harp) Elvey; daughters Brenda (John) Elvey, Betsy (Joe) Gonzales, and Amy Grossman; son William Elvey Jr.; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Peters, Betty (Gene LaHote, and Bonnie (Jim) Murowski; brother Harold “Bud” Elvey; sister in law Patsy Elvey; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ella Venora Elvey; daughter Gretchen Glover; son Craig Elvey; brother Bob Elvey; sister-in-law Jean Elvey.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Friday July 7th from 4 – 9 PM, where Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 11 AM. The Rubicon Lodge will conduct a Masonic Service Friday evening at 7 PM at the funeral home. Bill will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Toledo Memorial Park.

The world is a better place because of Bill. He loved spending time and laughing with family and friends. He was kind, generous, quick with a joke, not so quick with a story, and always there when needed. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
