Ruth Marolyn (Haase) Arnold

 

God quietly called his good and faithful servant Ruth M. Arnold, 88, home to His Eternal Kingdom on  Wednesday, February 8, 2017. She’d been looking forward to His call for quite some time.  Ruth led a life of unconditional love. Family was the center of her existence. She was especially fond of children – her three and their spouses, her 8 grandchildren, her great grandson, and the hundreds of children she helped teach throughout her career.  The cottage at Lime Lake was her haven. It provided her so much peace and happiness and such a wonderful setting to watch her family grow and interact. She just loved it when everyone was there.

Ruth was born August 12, 1928 to Albert and Eda Haase. She grew up in Toledo and graduated from Libbey High School and Davis Business College. She married Don Arnold in 1949 and they raised three children – Mark, Paul and Ruthann. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for 26 years as a teacher’s aide in the Bedford Public Schools. She enjoyed many family vacations out west and a special cruise to Alaska. She was a long-time member of Olivet Lutheran Church in Sylvania.

Ruth is survived by her son Paul (Lisa) Arnold, her daughter Ruthann Finch (Jeff), her daughter in law Barbara Arnold, her 8 grandchildren Matt Arnold, Elizabeth Asteriou (John), Cailyn and Devin Arnold, Adam, Eric, Ryan, and Troy Finch, her great grandson Lucas Asteriou, and many nieces and nephews.  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, her son Mark, and her siblings, Don, Gail, Lynn and Gertrude.

Visitation will be Sunday February 12, from 2 to 7pm at Reeb Funeral Home 5712 Main Street, Sylvania, OH 43560. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday February 13,  at Noon, with visitation one hour prior.  Ruth had requested to be cremated and will be interred at the Olivet Church Peace Garden at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be directed to Olivet Lutheran Church, 5840 Monroe St., Sylvania, OH 43560.

The family extends its sincere thanks to Ruth’s many caregivers at Kingston – Sylvania, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Olivet visitors and her good friends that spent time with her.

While it is hard to say goodbye, it is a joy to celebrate a new angel in Heaven.

The Guide

When we were created and God placed us on life’s way,

God gave us direction so we would not stray.

But if we should falter and our life turn gray,

Just pray to the Lord to guide the way.

 

When we travel the pathway of life,

And find it too narrow and full of strife,

Our heart wants to tell us to find our own way,

But just remember the price that God paid.

So whenever in doubt and we stumble through the day,

Just pray to the Lord to guide the way.

 

When the storm clouds gather and

we find ourselves in pain,

Just remember God’s Son, His death and his shame;

For this was all done for forgiveness and love,

And it all came down from our Father above,

But should we falter and start to stray,

Just pray to the Lord to guide the way.

 

Now when this life has come to the end,

Just look to the Lord for He is our friend.

Walk with the Lord all the way and let His words comfort us

and help us to pray,

So when we get weary and rest for a day,

Just pray to the Lord to guide the way.
