Robert James Theaker Sr.

James R. “Jim” Theaker, age 89, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away, Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Jim was born on December 3, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio and attended Clay High School before graduating from DeVilbiss High School in 1944. He was a WWII U.S. Army Signal Corp veteran and served with the occupation troops on Okinawa. He graduated in engineering from the University of Toledo college of Engineering in 1950, and was a member of the Sigma Beta Phi (Sig Bets) fraternity. He was with Sun Oil Company for 24 years, leaving in 1974 to pursue other interests. He was a member of the UT Alumni Association, Downtown Coaches, Rocket Club and the Baseball Dugout Club. He especially enjoyed the baseball team and sometimes travelled with the team on road games. He enjoyed swimming and golfing and the summers at Black Lake. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Greater Toledo and currently Hope Baptist. After retirement he became a volunteer in the Pharmacy Department at Toledo Hospital and in the Surgical Waiting Room at Flower Hospital.
Jim is survived by his, sons, Jack Edward, of Oakland CA and James Michael Theaker of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and step-daughter, Marcia (Dillon) Cox, of N. Carolina and step- son Gary Moore, of Washington, grandchildren, Kyle Theaker and Dillon-Paul Cox, Codie Mask and Grace Ann Cox.
A memorial service will be held at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Ohio, Tuesday, May 31, 2016 11:00 A.M. where friends and family may gather one hour prior.
