Kenneth Edward Friedt, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.  Ken was born on September 1, 1933 in Sylvania, Ohio and was the eighth and last child of Clinton and Dorothy (Hewitt) Friedt.

Ken, like his older brother Gene, had a great love for golf and began playing at a very early age.  His second home was Highland Meadows Golf Club where he progressed from caddie to assistant pro under Herman Lang.  During this time he also formed a lifelong friendship with assistant pro  Jack McGowan.  He later was a club pro in Florida.  Through the years Ken won a number of tournaments including the Junior District Golf Championship at age 18 at the Heatherdowns Country Club and the Catawba Cliffs Pro-Am in 1963 with his brother Gene.

In December 1974 Ken was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses joining his wife Jeanette.  Ken began to make serving Jehovah the main focus in his life, giving up the position of club professional so that he could devote more time to his worship.  He worked for many years at Woodville Lime in order to do this as well as support his family.  Ken was active as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 40 years associating with the Toledo Park and Swanton Congregations and had the privilege of serving as an elder in the Toledo Park Congregation for many years.  Ken and his wife Jeanette were very active in the congregation and did much through the years to help others.

Ken was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Jeanette, his parents Clinton and Dorothy, brothers Donald, Gene, and Bobby, and sisters Phyllis, Evelyn, and Marjorie.  He is survived by his daughter Beverly (Jody), grandchildren Emily, Daniel, and James, and sister Harriet (Jack) Blausey.

Family and friends may visit at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., in Sylvania on Friday, March 31st from 11am to 1pm.  A funeral service will be held at 1pm.  Contributions may be made to Jehovah’s Witnesses by visiting www.jw.org.  Contributions may also be made to the Genesis Swanton Valley Nursing Home.

Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.reebfuneralhome.com
