Jean Rose (Kahle) Janney
August 3, 1924 ~ January 16, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years OldJean Rose Janney (Kahle), 93, passed away on Jan 16, 2018 at Heartland Promedica Rehab.
Jean was born in Sylvania, Ohio to Parke and Vivian (Wiley) Kahle, on August 3, 1924. She graduated from Burnham High School in 1942. She married David Lee Janney in 1942.
Jean worked in the family business, Janney’s Red and White Grocery Store, in Trilby, OH, for 27 years. When their business closed in 1976, she went to work for Sylvania Savings Bank for 8 years, retiring in 1983.
She enjoyed playing cards, reading, and the fun times at their family cottage at Black Lake, MI. Jean was a member of the Sylvania Historical Society, and Child Conservation League for 60 years. She volunteered at the Village Players, Sylvania Heritage House, Mobile Meals, and the Sylvania Federal Credit Union.
Jean is survived by her sons, David L. (Nancy) Janney and Greg Janney of Toledo; sister, Judy Quick of Heartwell, Georgia; grandchildren, Steve, Jeff (Liz), Lori, David (Lara,) Jason (Nichol,) and Jonathon; 14 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, David Lee Janney; parents, Parke and Vivian Kahle; daughter, Sharon Leigh Janney; and sisters, Lucille Quinell, Alyce Snyder, and Donna Iffland.
Memorial service will be held at Trilby United Methodist Church on Friday, January 26, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Reeb Funeral Home will be making the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trilby United Methodist Church or Shriner Children’s Hospital.
