Jacqueline Ann (Moran) Lerch
July 5, 1934 ~ August 26, 2015 (age 81) 81 Years OldJacqueline Ann (Moran) Lerch, 81, of Sylvania, Ohio passed away peacefully at home Wednesday August 26, 2015, having been surrounded by family throughout her 7 month struggle with cancer. Beyond family, her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of friends and supporters helped carry her through the journey. Vanilla ice cream, often with hot fudge, also helped tremendously.
Jacqueline was born on July 5, 1934 in Toledo, Ohio to Elizabeth and John Moran of Salt Coates, Scotland. She maintained her love of all things Scottish throughout her life, especially the bagpipes. She was a wonderful gardener, having created and nurtured many a fine garden with great joy over the years. She loved to travel, and was blessed by having fulfilled her “bucket list” of places to visit or things to do during her life, in some cases more than once.
A 1952 graduate of Whitney High school, Jacqueline worked early on as a dental technician, secretary and later bookkeeper. She met her only sweetheart Vern V. Lerch in 1949, married him in 1953 and subsequently raised four devoted daughters. The couple was blessed with lifelong love, a profound commitment to their family and an abundance of adventure during their 66 years together.
Jackie was a longtime volunteer at Flower Hospital, the first volunteer to serve in the Emergency Room, where her days were blessed with camaraderie and laughter. She was an active member of the Sylvania First United Methodist Church, and a thankful community member.
Jacqueline is survived by her husband Vern and their daughters Karen LaPierre, Dawn (Scott) Gillespie, Bonnie (Don) Brieschke and Jennifer (Mario Perez) Lerch; her seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Jacqueline’s family will welcome friends at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, Ohio on Sunday August 30, 2015 from 12:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 2:00 pm. Contributions in celebration of her life may be given to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the American Cancer Society.
