Darius O. “Bud” Riggs, 81, of Adrian, MI, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Gaslight Village Assisted Living, Adrian.

Bud was born November 7, 1934, in Toledo, to parents Orley and Lovella (Mohler) Riggs. He was a Mechanical Engineer by trade and held several patents. Bud retired from Owens Illinois after over 30 years of service and then began a career with Doehler Jarvis where he eventually retired. During his career Bud taught night classes for Tool and Die Apprentices at Macomber Whitney  and Whitmer High Schools.   He served on the Whiteford Agricultural School Board for many years.  He also taught CAM at Owens Community College. Bud was a 60-year member of the former Triad Lodge #708, now the Barton Smith Lodge # 613 F & AM.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Johanna (Pickard) Riggs; daughter Karen (David) Finn, Adrian; sons Darrell (Julie), Carleton and James (Liesel) Riggs, Blissfield; grandchildren Jennifer Compton, Rebecca Perry, and Andrew Riggs; great-grandchildren Alana, Katelyn, Nathan, Jack, Caleb, Isaac, and Adalyn.  

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Friday, July 1st from 4 – 9 PM, where the Barton Smith Lodge will conduct a service at 7 PM. Memorial Services will be conducted at the Sylvania United Church of Christ, 7240 Erie St. Sylvania, OH, Saturday at 11:30 AM.   Bud will be laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery, Petersburg, MI, prior to the Memorial Service.

Those wishing to offer memorials in Bud’s memory, in lieu of flowers, are asked to consider the Hospice of Lenawee County.
