Carmen T. Sturt, of Sylvania, Ohio, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Heartland in Sylvania. She was born to Roberto and Bertha (Bazan) Lucio on February 13, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas.
Carmen was a 1956 graduate of Springfield High School. She worked as a teacher’s aide in Sylvania Schools for many years, teaching English as a second language to foreign students. She volunteered at Manor House, Wildwood and for the Girl Scouts. Carmen had a true love of nature and enjoyed her travels throughout the country with her late husband John. Her ability to nurture others did not go unnoticed by her family and friends, as she was always there in their time of need. As the matriarch of her extended family, she was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother “mimi”.
She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, John, siblings; Mary (Ernie) Salinas, Bob (Irene) Lucio, Stanley (Mary) Lucio, Jessie Lucio, Connie (Bill) Salinas, Vera (Ernie) Clark and Steve Lucio. Left to cherish her memory are children; Connie (John) Reuther, Karen (Dave) Farell, Edward Sturt and John Paul Sturt, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Bonnie Lucio and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends may join the family for visitation at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 2pm until 8pm, with a Rosary recited at 7:30pm. A Funeral Mass will be conducted on Friday at 10am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, OH, with prayers at the Reeb Funeral Home prior to mass at 9am. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
